1st Grade
Elementary Parents,
What a great first six weeks! We have enjoyed having your students and look forward to the rest of the year. Be looking for report cards coming out this week. Please sign and return to your student's teacher. Elementary will hold Goals Conferences with parents on October 15th and 22nd. We will have an early release on both of these days in order to help assist teachers in getting these conferences completed. A parent House night is in the works for those nights as well, be looking for more information soon.

This past Friday, our Houses got together and spent some time together. The Houses took some time to bless others. The House of Courage made inspirational bookmarks and hid them in library books, and they also helped pack up the first order of Claw's Closet. The House of Accountability cleaned up trash all around the campus and football field. The Houses of Trustworthiness wrote letters and drew pictures for our Smyer Senior Citizens. The House of Service walked down to our Senior Citizen building and pulled weeds and made the inside spotless. So proud of our Cats!

Students will get to start spending their "points" in the Bobcat House Store this week. I went to most classes this week and showed students how to log in. Students may only order from the Store during their designated week at this time. Students were given their codes in order to do this on the app at home. This week we will start with 1st and 6th graders allowed to shop, but many students are probably going to start with saving their coins so they can get some of the big prizes. Thanks to the PAWS Club and other donaters for stocking the Store.

Strive For Five
Attendance Matters
This school year we are going to focus on student attendance. Some say it takes 10,000 hours of quality practice in somthing (sports, music, reading, math) to become an expert in it. When a student misses school they are losing the ground to become the best they can be.

If a student misses 10 days in school year = 4,930 minutes/82 hours of instruction lost

If a student misses 10 days a year every year during their elementary years, they will have missed: 34,510 minutes/575hours of instruction. WOW!

We want our kids to be set up success and not struggling to make up the exposure they lost from being absent! This year we are going to have a STRIVE for FIVE goal--no more than five absences for the school year.
